More or Less…
We often study relics of the past and misconstrue their intended meaning. The most convincing is when we get it half-right. However, this place in-between reality and fiction is well suited for speculation. The icons act as cyphers, ideal in their formal legibility and discreteness. Yet, placed in disparate contexts, they resist functional description and invite open interpretation. Meaning, at this point, is completely optional providing utility in its presence, absence, or misunderstanding.
The pseudo-objects are an amalgamation of the 3-dimensional and the flat pushing the discrete objects into the realm of illustration. This allows for the experimentation of the thickened line, layered texture, gradient, and misregistered supergraphics as surface articulation.
